Hi, I have a friend whose vet just recommended they see a surgeon regarding knee/cruciate damage in their English Shepherd. Does anyone have any good vet...

Mark Engen in Kirkland is my usual referral location for clients wanting work done on the West side of the state. Mark has an excellent office, a great reputation and tons of experience.

Today is the two week anniversary of Zoe's (4 year old yellow Lab) surgery. We were referred to Dr. Allen Johnson of the Animal Surgical Clinic of Seattle (it's in Shoreline) by the breeder's vet. Seems that they do a zillion of these surgeries. They also have a rehab faclility right there that features an underwater treadmill. # 206.545.4322.

Broadway Vet Hospital on 12 th. Just had a lab done there this summer. Excellent service and results. Dr McWilliams

Triple vote for Dr Allen Johnson at Animal Surgical Clinic of Seattle. They (and their staff) are THE best.
Cary W. replied:
Make sure you're choosing a boarded surgeon -- not just a vet who does them sometimes. Animal Surgical Clinic of Seattle (Dr. Johnson did work on several of my labs) or Seattle Veterinary Specialists (Dr. Mison is amazing).
Barb S. replied:
Lisa Newton, Aurora Veterinary Hospital is my vet.
Any recommendations for an orthopedic doctor/surgeon specializing in adult knee issues?
Darcy H. replied:
My dad had a knee replacement last year with Dr. Flugstad at Swedish 1 st hill. His experience was great and I know he would highly recommend him.
Thyra M. replied:
YES!!! Dr. Holland from Orthopedic Physician Associates. 206-694-6640. He is wonderful and believes in trying to fix problems before cutting. He's stacked with credentials and awards and was the former Team Physician for the Seahawks, Mariners and Sonics.
Mardee A. replied:
Dr. Khalfayan. My husband has had two knee surgeries with him. He's the head ortho for the Seahawks and Mariners. http://www.drkhalfayan.com/

Dr Hsu at the Sports Medicine Clinic. He does excellent work.

Sorry to hear that Lydia. That's a real bummer. I was really impressed with Dr. Belfie, his bed side manner and the amount of time and energy he put into educating his patients. I think he is more of a shoulder and knee guy, but could be a great guy to get some advice from and a referral if it isn't a procedure that he commonly does. https://www.virginiamason.org/body.cfm?id=1175...

I had hip surgery for impingement and hip dysplasia. Dr Downer at orthopedic center in Wallingford.

Dr Cara Beth Lee at Virginia Mason is where I would go.....

Lydia Tymon - FYI I made my appt with Dr Downer to see what my options are. It seems like my hip is "slipping". It definitely likes to click. frown emoticon

Coming to Seattle May 22, best vegan breakfast, lunch and dinner spots to try plz...will also be in North Bend and Puyallup. I am seeking an artificial disc surgeon. The...
Marti H. replied:
Not a lot in Puyallup - Phở Puyallup has a vegetable pho broth and lots of tofu options. Mod Pizza has Daiya. QDoba has the usual options. The Hub has vegan cheese for pizza, they have some vegan apps, salads and veggie burgers. Ayothaya Thai is very vegan-aware and can make most of their dishes vegan if you ask. (Be specific though, they try very hard, but get mixed messages from folks in these parts... I hear people asking for "vegetarian" and the waitstaff will clarify "So no fish sauce?" and the customers will say "No, fish sauce is fine". GAH!). Charm Thai has all vegan items marked, definitely my fave in the area. Karma Indian Cuisine has (or can veganize) plenty of menu options, Trapper's Sushi has a bunch of options too!
My Seattle friends...any recommendations for a knee surgeon. My turn for ACL/meniscus repair.
Andrea P. replied:
Check out Jim Crutcher at Swedish. He's an orthopedist. I'm seeing him next week about knee replacement.
Barbara F. replied:
Scott Hormel. Spent years putting professional athletes together in Vail before moving here. The surgeon I was recommended to in 2000 (when I messed up my ACL) had retired but came to work to assist Scott simply because he hadn't ever seen a surgeon with such steady hands. And he's still excellent. Robin would go to him if she wasn't having her surgery in Vancouver, BC
Patti Z. replied:
Dr. David Badger at Ortho Washington did Rick's knee replacement at Evergreen Hospital - I have to all went smoothly. Let me know if you want his 411.
