Dr. Passer is at 42 nd and Farnam and is all about trying natural things. He's an internist.

Jennifer W. replied:
Dr. Ryan at Alternatives has a lot of patients that she's helped with low testosterone. The hardest part is getting off of testosterone supplements but it's a necessary step to regaining sperm count. A protocol using HCG works best. He needs to be prepared to feel very tired and run down for several months while his body works on turning his testicles back on and creating his own testosterone. At that point, a doctor can do a full hormone panel to see exactly where various hormone levels are naturally. A natural approach includes a high cholesterol low inflammatory diet along with getting proper sleep. This supplement has been proven to increase sperm count (likely by increasing the body's testosterone). He should also seek help from the Pope Paul Institute.

Integrative O. replied:
Consider Dr. James Biskup at Bellvue Family practice. He is a holistic family practice MD who does good work with hormones. definitely needs have his Adrenal glads tested using saliva, because under stress the body will selectively use the parent hormone Pregnenolone to make cortisol, instead of sex hormones, including testosterone. Have him google "low testosterone and pregnenolone steal" that explains how the adrenal stress response often causes low Testosterone in men.

Patricia Ryan at Alternatives can help you! She isn't an endocrinologist but she can help with your hormones. She uses biodentical hormones which are all natural. She doesn't take insurance and is a little pricey but very worth it!

Pope Paul also recommended an exploratory surgery for me, and I have 2 heartland babies that required no surgery. Dr. Maclin was our endo

Dr. Passer at the medcenter is really good with endo but he's not an RE. He prescribes natural thyroid hormones like Naturethroid and I have had a wonderful experience with him, he is very against synthetic hormones though, he will take your off synthroid right away, so if you like it and want to stay on it, keep that in mind. Good luck!
Ann D. replied:
Dr Doherty and her partner Dr Oakes. Oakes follows all of dohertys protocols which by far have better outcomes than Maclin. She is very type A and crazy smart!! Definitely a pioneer in woman's RE. Good luck!
Kat C. replied:
I went to Dr Finley at the BMC for my infertility caused by my hypothyroidism. He was very proactive about it and now almost 2 years later, we are expecting baby number 2!
Sarah A. replied:
I don't have thyroid issues but have other fertility issues. We went to Dr Maclin at heartland fertility and loved her! The whole clinic is great!
Jessica E. replied:
I love Dr Doherty! Her bedside manner isn't the best but she is straight up honest with you and won't sugar coat things. We did not care for Dr Maclin.
Anna B. replied:
Maud Doherty out of Methodist. I went to Pope Paul. Worst experience of my 6 years of trying. Maud was able to diagnose, dos corrective surgery and get me pregnant in three months. The thing that floors me is Pope Paul couldn't have even read my records to have missed what the cause of my infertility was.

Dr Megan Oakes....she is both a reproductive endocrinologist and fertility specialist. I saw her for PCOS and for IUI GOT PG 2 nd round...she is wonderful! A friends daughter has also seen her (she went to Pope Paul first) and was successful as well. Located at Methodist Women's out on Dodge.

I don't know an endocrinologist, but I saw Dr Ingram's nurse practitioner for my thyroid testing and we sat and talked for an hour. She understood all my concerns and were open to holistic treatments. They also prescribe armour thyroid if that matters to you. Dr Ingram is an ENT/allergist, but he is also on the holistic side. ~Katie

Nicole M. replied:
I agree with previous posters, see your regular doctor first for the labs and then look for an endo. Dr. Tim Wahl is my husband's and we like him a lot.
Jennifer M. replied:
I agree the place to start is a family doctor unless you have already had abnormal or borderline TSH test results. My thyroid disease was missed by my pcp for years because my test were always borderline. As for an endocrinologist, I recommend Dr. Anjela Drincic at Nebraska Medicine.
